U-D Grabs
for Austin's
Swim Title

University of Detroit High is favored to dethrone Austin in the Catholic League swimming championship Sunday at Oak-
land University, Rochester. The competition will start at 2:30 p.m.
Last night, U. of D. and Austin both wound up the prelimi-
naries with a total of 13 indivi-
duals and two relay units as qualifiers. But U-D had the best times in four events and shared another top clocking with Austin on the two-day program. The defending champions finished with the best times in only two events.
U-D also had five clockings good for second place including the medley relay, while Austin posted only one second place time in the freestyle relay.
Two league records were set in last night's six event trials. Austin ace John Skantze bettered his own 100-yard backstroke record of :58.9 seconds set last year with a time of :58.4.
In the other, U-D's Tim Sullivan clipped 4/10ths of a second off the old standard of :51.8 for the 100-yard freestyle set by Benedictine's Tom Lees a year ago.
Last year Austin won it's sixth league championship by routing Visiation, 80-49, De La Salle was third on 44 points, and U. of D. fourth on 38. The Oakland pool is located east of Pontiac on Adams road.
